Can You Use a Clay Mask Every Day?

The dirt on clay masks

Have you ever tried a clay mask before?

I don’t mean to be dramatic, but there are probably about a kajillion (my best estimate) different types of clay masks out there. And that’s for good reason: they do what they say on the tin. Of course, when it comes to skincare, it’s always more complicated than just grab and go.

Let’s talk about it!

What are clay masks good for?

In general, clay masks are well regarded for their absorption abilities. The very popular Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is made with Jeju volcanic cluster, which is porous and absorbent. This means it’s a great ingredient to look for when what you’re after is a thorough cleaning.

The absorbent nature of this clay mask makes it an appropriate tool for sucking up fine dust, makeup residue, dead skin cells, and excess sebum. Keeping your skin free of these kinds of impurities lessens the likelihood of developing acne and keeps your face feeling fresh. The Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask has the added ingredient of walnut shell powder which can also help with exfoliation

The recommendation for using a skincare product like this, however, is in moderation. One to two times a week for 10-15 minutes at a time is enough for you to reap the maximum benefits. Leaving a clay mask on for too long or using it more than two times a week could be too drying for your skin.

What if I need a skin reset more often than twice a week?

If you’re someone who works out very regularly or spends a lot of time outside, you may be feeling the desire to clear your skin more often than two times a week. I know that I sometimes feel that myself. It’s risky to just go ahead with the regular clay mask, so we need to be looking for another solution.

The Volcanic Swirl Pore Mask is a promising option for those of us searching for a regular cleaning that doesn’t dry out our skin. Its toothpaste-esque appearance is not just for show – there’s a method to the madness. The cream colored part is made out of the volcanic cluster we know and love to control excessive sebum and assist with enlarged pores, while the blue gel part of it is a hydrating essence that contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and madecassoside to help return moisture back to your skin.

Because it does both clear pores and dead skin cells while providing hydration, the Volcanic Swirl Pore Mask is a clay mask that you can use daily. You don’t even have to use it for as long as a regular clay mask either. Around three to five minutes with this one and you’re good to wash it off.

Is the Volcanic Swirl Pore Mask enough to keep pores clean on its own?

The answer to this question very much depends on your skin and your lifestyle. For someone like me who is relatively active and who already enjoys my biweekly visits with the Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, I’d consider the Volcanic Swirl Pore Mask a “nice to have” to help keep things tidy before my big cleans on Mondays and Thursdays.

If you’re someone who avoids clay masks altogether because you have dry skin or because you can’t afford to (or remember to) spare those 10-15 minutes two times a week, the swirl mask might be something definitely worth checking out.

I always say this, but the best skincare routine you can have is one that you can keep up with. If this one sounds like it could work for you, there’s no better time than now to give it a go.

Stay clean!
