What is PDRN?
Exploring a trending anti-aging solution
There’s a new skincare treatment in town and it has an intriguing and mysterious name.
Polydeoxyribonucleotide, known more casually as PDRN, is the latest in Korean skincare trends. Folks are lining up to try out PDRN as an anti-aging treatment. But why? How does it work?
How aging affects your skin
As we age, our skin is bound to change. Sagging skin, a rough skin texture, more prominent and visible wrinkles - these are all signs of ageing that many of us hope to evade until “much later” in our lives. The truth is that aging is a natural and inevitable process. But just as there are things that we can do to speed its development; such as prolonged UV exposure, smoking, and other poor lifestyle habits; there are steps we can take to slow the process.
What is PDRN?
PDRN is a naturally derived component of DNA, known for its role in supporting skin repair and regeneration.
The new INNISFREE Retinol Green Tea PDRN Skinbooster Ampoule is one way for you to explore the anti-ageing benefits of PDRN at home. INNISFREE’s PDRN is completely vegan and is made with green tea derived lactobacillus.
In this ampoule, Green Tea PDRN is combined with a Triple Retinol Complex™ to help improve skin elasticity, skin texture, and reduce the appearance of saggy pores and wrinkles.
How do I start using PDRN?
The best place to use the Retinol Green Tea PDRN Skinbooster Ampoule is at the serum and essence stage of your skincare routine. It should follow your toner and be followed by a lotion and then your cream.
For the first seven days of your time with this ampoule, it is recommended that you use just 1-2 pumps once a day (preferably the evening). A slight stinging sensation or redness is normal - you can use a gentle moisturizer or hydrating cream to help soothe your skin as you get used to the transition. From day eight onwards, you can use it twice daily with the option to adjust the amount of product you use to your liking.
You all know that I’m like a broken record when it comes to reminding you to use sunscreen, but it’s especially important to remember to slap on your sun protection when using a product that contains retinol. It’s also a good idea to avoid mixing this ampoule with exfoliants (scrubs and peels); products with high levels of AHAs, BHAs, and vitamin C; and LED masks or other skin-irritating massage devices (such as dermarollers).
It’s a new year! A great time to try something new for a change!
